about

In The Dreamtime is a continuation of the work begun on Moving Pictures and The Call, and a refinement of ideas and visions generated by those projects. It has been a chance to weave my various influences, sources and inspirations into a tighter, more cohesive whole. This recording, in many ways, was conceived of as a whole com-position, with the general theme of dream imagery as its center, again exploring and breaking down the distinctions between electronic music, new jazz and world music. I continue my role as synthesist, percussionist, composer and engineer/arranger (often the same in this music) and continue to share the joy of playing with a select group of extraordinary musicians. This record was recorded almost entirely at home, with one piece the exception: the edges may be a bit rougher but the flexibility and intimacy of working this way had a very profoundly positive effect on the music.
